Uwb Opportunities for Smart Home Applications

چکیده
This paper focuses on those features of impulse radio (IR) technology that makes it attractive for smart home applications. Firstly, a highly flexible air interface definition is presented that allows for the production of low cost IR transmitters, still able to support a wide range of applications. Secondly, the robustness of IR communication against small and large scale fading is shown based on office environment radio channel measurements. To conclude, some straightforward link-budget and throughput analysis are presented, which highlight the potential of IR technology.
